Heat control for coating machine

In 2019, SETEK Process & Data delivered components, PLC and HMI programming, commissioning and documentation. We helped our customer replace heaters with a more energy-saving type.

Solution

The solution became, 18 heating sections with individual control loops that control the 72 heaters via pulse control.

The very high temperatures place great demands on technology and materials. Therefore, all temperature measurements are built with thermocouples that can measure high temperatures relatively accurately.

The entire control is handled by a Siemens Simatic 1500SP with a Simatic ET 200SP Profinet node and all operation of the system is done from a Simatic KTP700 HMI panel.

Existing electrical documentation was implemented in a new set of electrical diagrams, so that everything was kept up to date after commissioning and delivery.

Description

Together with a local partner, SETEK Process & Data has participated in upgrading an existing machine plant.
The purpose of the system is to heat paper in connection with the application of friction material (coating).

The end user wanted to replace all heaters with a different and more energy-saving type - and at the same time get a better control of the heat, by dividing into several individually controlled heating circuits.
